The fourth Stop the Drop-meeting in Belgium was replaced by a two-day online meeting.
Because of the limitations due to the Covid19 measures, the Stop the Drop-teams must also adjust their plans and working methods and look for creative solutions. The meeting scheduled in Belgium from May 5 to 8 was replaced by a two-day online meeting on May 5 and 6. Everyone had worked hard to have their report ready on how the 13 defined solutions could possibly be implemented in the respective educational institutions. On Tuesday May 5, each educational institution presented their report, after which an open dialogue followed to coordinate the various solutions. At the beginning of the meeting it took some getting used to for everyone, but once the ice was broken, everyone was especially happy that we saw each other again and that we could continue working on the project via virtual means.
For the second day we had added an extra item to the meeting to discuss the institutions individual responses to current events. We held a dialogue on how our educational institutions can better support students through distance / digital education. The primary focus was on the Covid19 crisis, but also on the future as we are convinced that distance education will increasingly become part of the curriculum.
It was a constructive two day-meeting. It was especially satisfying to see that everyone is still on the same page and very enthusiastic about the project. The reports have been aligned and the different views on possible solutions have been put forward. Everyone can return to work refreshed and with new inspiration. We are already looking forward to our next online meeting in June.
